Gregg Bundschuh, JD

FOUNDER & MANAGING PRINCIPAL

Gregg Bundschuh is the Founder and Managing Principal of Greyling Insurance Brokerage & Risk Consulting, a leading insurance brokerage specializing in design and construction risk. Gregg advises clients involved in the construction industry and provides special expertise in complex infrastructure and international construction projects. Gregg draws from a unique background in entrepreneurship, risk consulting and specialty brokerage, as well as his experience as a practicing attorney and general counsel. He is a Fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers and a former member of its board of governors. He is also the first Chair of the Corporate Counsel Division of the American Bar Association, Forum on the Construction Industry. Additionally, he has served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Prior to forming Greyling, he was Managing Director, Global Construction Leader, and Environmental Practice Leader at Marsh, Inc. He was General Counsel to a national architecture and engineering firm, and practiced construction law representing general contractors with an Atlanta law firm. Gregg’s background as a construction lawyer provides a unique perspective on risk and insurance issues. Throughout his career, he has developed specialty insurance products and programs and supporting risk management and claims services that address risk mitigation in a holistic manner. Merging legal and insurance skillsets, he has placed manuscripted insurance policies for “acceleration,” delayed completion/liquidated damages, “cost overrun,” force majeure, systems performance/efficacy, and inherent defects. Gregg has also developed insurance and risk management programs for design and construction industry associations to address the unique needs and exposures of their member firms.

Gregg has spoken and written articles before dozens of national and international gatherings concerned with design, construction, risk management, and insurance matters including the following organizations and publications: American College of Construction Lawyers (ACCL), American Bar Association Forum on Construction, The Society of Construction Law (SCL); International Bar Association, American Corporate Counsel Association, American Institute of Architects (AIA), Associated General Contractors (AGC), Associated Owners & Developers, American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), American Road & Transportation Association (ARBTA), Construction Business Review, Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), Construction Super Conference, Design Professionals Coalition, Federal Publications – Construction Briefings, Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law, Georgia State Bar Association, International Risk Management Institute (IRMI), National Council for Public/Private Partnerships, Public Risk Managers Association (PRIMA), National Underwriter, Real Estate Law Institute, Wiley Construction Law Update, and Risk & Insurance Managers Society (RIMS).

His publications include An Owners’ Guide to Construction Risk Management & Insurance; the insurance chapter of the New York Construction Law Manual; and The Design/Build Deskbook.

Greyling was acquired by EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants in 2014 to create perpetuation, scale, and liquidity. In shepherding his company through acquisition by a private equity-backed parent company and multiple, successful recapitalizations, Gregg gained unique insight into the strategy for acquisition, growth, process, EBITDA expansion, and valuation methodologies. He has experience with approaches to de-risking a target company and adding significant shareholder value to the firm by accelerating growth and profitability. These experiences uniquely qualify Gregg to offer his design and construction clients with advice on private equity, capital structures, acquisition strategies, the identification of suitable acquisition targets, and the smooth transition and integration of firms and ownership.

Gregg is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds a law degree from the University of Georgia. He resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
